Hi, I'm
Jonathan Wang.
Mechanical Engineering Student, B.A.Sc. Mechanical Engineering, University of Waterloo, Class of 2030
I'm currently on the Chassis team at University of Waterloo Formula Electric, with an interest in automotive, robotics, and automation. Outside of that I like to swim. Seeking Winter 2026 co-op opportunities.
Experience
Formula Electric & Work Experience
Formula Electric Design Team
University of Waterloo Formula Electric
Designed and validated structural components across the car (6-point harness mounts and the impact attenuator / anti-intrusion plate) using FEA, quasi-static testing, and SES documentation to confirm FSAE compliance.
Evaluated chassis torsional stiffness in ANSYS, designed and prototyped a heat-formed MoTeC screen cover, and built welding jigs and a differential test bench to support precision fabrication and testing.
Work Experience
Sigma Tools Ltd., Toronto, Ontario
Led the redesign of 3 tensile/bending test fixtures, cutting wire fixture setup time by 80%, and began R&D on a self-tightening wedge grip design. Conducted 100+ tensile tests on nail and wire samples, manufactured 200+ machine components on manual mills and drill presses, and created hundreds of GD&T-compliant manufacturing drawings converting components between Solid Edge and SolidWorks.
